Activities

Many Thanks to all our members, donors, volunteers, and well wishers!

In 2022, the BOD/Executive setup a Strategic Planning Committee to determine new ways to provide assistance and how to make that assistance sustainable. From that committee, Primary School Education was chosen for a 2023 Pilot program through which Backpacks and Exercise Books were provided to the top five Primary 5 students in each of the eighteen primary schools in Agulu.

Also, in 2022 the BOD authorized $7000.00 for assistance to the APU Women’s Wing Skills Acquisition Center at Nkwo market. That money was used to build toilets (male & female), a water deep well, water tank and platform, and necessary plumbing (commodes, sinks, etc) for the center.

During COVID-19 (2020 to 2022), the Medical Mission was suspended due to global travel restrictions. We however provided relief to 850 indigent people in Agulu by giving them a cash palliative of N5000.00 each.

The 2012 Medical Mission

The 3rd annual Medical Mission was held on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, 2012. We continue to record improvements in the delivery of services to the Agulu community.  An excellent provider to patient ratio is maintained so that patients don’t spend all day waiting (especially in the pharmacy) and more eye glasses were bought to meet the expected high demand.

Many THANKS, as always, to all those who helped us to see it through especially MAP International, AmeriCares, Ndi-Agulu UK, the Umeh Family, Juhel Pharmaceuticals, APU, Miss Ifeoma Obidike (Pharmacist), and the indispensable Dr. Emmanuel Muozoba for their kindness and support.

The 2011 Medical Mission

The 2nd annual Medical Mission was held on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, 2011. More patients were attended to by an even bigger team of doctors, nurses and other volunteers than the 2010 mission.

Many THANKS to all those who helped us to see it through especially MAP International, AmeriCares, Ndi-Agulu UK, IAD California, IAD Atlanta, the Umeh Family, and Dr. Muozoba for their generous gifts and support.

The 2010 Medical Mission

As was mandated at the 2009 IAD annual convention in Atlanta, the medical mission launch date for Agulu was set for August 8th, 2010. On that date the IAD health team made up of volunteer doctors, nurses, technicians, and other professionals were on the ground at the Agulu General Hospital venue for the launching of IAD Preventive Healthcare Program. Our brothers and sisters at home were on hand to welcome the medical team, and later were screened for any ailments.

IAD also supported the Anambra State Association-USA 2010 Medical Mission. This group was in Agulu on Wednesday August 11 2010 with medical professionals of different specialties. We have supported them with donations in past years.

Livestock Assistance Program

The Livestock Assistance Program is an economic empowerment program for indigent village women. Goats have been handed out to women in all but 3 villages and they are being monitored both by their local leaders and by IAD. It is expected that the program will evolve as an instrument to teach and practice consensus management – the groups don’t take votes, they must strive for a consensus, a meeting of the minds. If LAP succeeds it will help keep people from leaving the town (making it a ghost town) for economic reasons.
